Is there a minimum salary to sponsor an Employment Pass?
For new and renewal applications submitted from 1 June 2026, ESD publishes monthly salary bands of RM20,000 and above for Employment Pass Category I, RM10,000–RM19,999 for Category II, and RM5,000–RM9,999 for Category III. Salary alone does not secure approval: the sponsor, role, applicable succession plan and other requirements also matter.

The policy provides maximum durations, not guaranteed pass terms: up to ten years for Categories I and II and five years for Category III, with succession-plan requirements for II and III. Confirm the application-specific rules with an immigration specialist.
