What is a registered office and why do I need one?
The registered office is the company's official legal address: where SSM and LHDN notices are served, where statutory registers live, and what appears on the public record. It must be a physical Malaysian address capable of receiving documents — not a P.O. Box. It need not be where you actually work; most companies use their secretary's office.

Section 46(1) requires a company to have a registered office in Malaysia from the date of its incorporation, to which all communications and notices may be addressed, and which is open and accessible to the public during ordinary business hours.
Section 47(1) requires the company to keep at that office its notice of registration, its constitution if any, certificates issued under the Act, all registers, books, records and documents required under the Act, minutes and resolutions of members and of the Board and its committees, copies of financial statements and the documents annexed to them, instruments creating charges registrable under the Act, and any other documents the Registrar requires.
